Politics and Judicial Activism
Excerpted here is a paragraph of Ron Paul’s writing on August 15, 2005 entitled, [Politics and Judicial Activism](http://www.ronpaul2008.com/articles/899/politics-and-judicial-activism/):
“The public also plays a role in the erosion of our judiciary. Since many citizens lack basic knowledge of our Constitution and federalist system, they are easily manipulated by media and academic elites who tell them that judges are the absolute and final arbiters of US law. But the Supreme Court is not supreme over the other branches of government; it is supreme only over lower federal courts. If Americans wish to be free of judicial tyranny, they must at least develop basic knowledge of the judicial role in our republican government. The present state of affairs is a direct result of our collective ignorance.”
This whole paragraph says a lot, however this one statement really grabs my attention, “If Americans wish to be free of judicial tyranny, they must at least develop basic knowledge of the judicial role in our republican government”.
This development of “[basic knowledge](/about.php)” is the price of freedom. It takes individual participation, education, power, a new perspective, and the eternal vigilance that Thomas Jefferson talked about. This is the price we each must pay to redeem our freedom and liberty.
